Future of the Church

Craig Groeschel, one of the pastors and bloggers that I read, recently posted THIS in a series of blogs about the future of the church.

Read it and tell me what you think? Will there be growing persecution in the Church? Are we going to grow more missional and passionate in America about following Jesus? How does that possibility make you feel?

Wow - great food for thought! I think that there is a very good possibility that there will be a growing persecution of the church. God tells us in Matthew 24:9 that we will be handed over to be persecuted and that we will be hated by all nations because of Him. He goes on in verses 10-12 to say that many will turn away from faith and the love of most will grow cold. The good news is, that he who stands firm to the end will be saved!
I think it is somewhat normal for "baby" Christians to church-shop or be consumer-Christians. Hopefully and prayerfully, these infants in Christ will be nurtured by the more mature Christians so that they don't get stuck in their infancy, and think that the church is just a place for them to get what they need. Admittedly, I am really just now really learning that it's about serving God and His people, and not just about what I can get out of it. Praise the Lord for all of the wonderful people He has put in my life to grow me up in my Christian walk. I know I'm not where I need to be yet, but thankfully I'm not where I used to be either.
So, I think its up to us - do we want to be a missional church and help bring others to be passionate about Christ? I sure hope so - what an awesome mission!
Have a blessed day.
