Cowboy Sunday Invite!

No, not those Cowboys!

I'm talking about the cowboys in San Patricio County not the losers to the Giants!
This weekend my friend Donald Parker launches the Cowboy Fellowship of San Patricio County in Sinton!

Some Creekers who already lived in that area - Davey and Tiele Dockens - have even decided to help launch Cowboy Fellowship! Way to go Dockens!

As we are seeking to 'seed' new Kingdom life, I have been meeting some with Donald, and we are we are joining with several other churches to help Donald and his team reach the people of Sinton and the surrounding areas.

Now here's the invite that I talked about in an earlier post . . . This Sunday September 27 - they will be having a Ranch Hand rodeo after they launch their public services. A ranch hand rodeo is a fun kind of rodeo for the entire family. The rodeo will start at 1pm at the San Pat County Fairgrounds (there's signs to it as you enter Sinton)

Donald would love to have as many Creekers as possible out there so that you can see first hand what God is doing!

So I encourage you to go eat a cowboy lunch (there will be a concession stand) and experience the cowboy life in Sinton!

Meet Donald Parker. (He was kind of bummed about this picture I took as we met in Starbucks and he didn't have his cowboy hat on as he does most of the time.)

Donald's a new church planter in Sinton. He's planting a 'cowboy church.' And no that is NOT a church that watches the Dallas Cowboys together on Sundays :) [I saw the wheel's spinning . . . ]
It's a church whose target audience is the folks who live in rural areas - namely those whose way of life revolves farming, ranching and rodeoing.

One of the ways that we are seeking to be On Mission is to help start new churches. We are joining with several other churches to help Donald and his team reach the people of Sinton and the surrounding areas.

I have been meeting some with Donald and sharing with him our experiences - this coaching is one way we are pouring into them.
The Leadership Team also decided to give his church plant a small amount of money each month ($100) . . . currently there are about 10 churches helping them financially as they get off the ground.
And then I would ask you to pray for Donald and the Cowboy Fellowship Church in Sinton . . . and maybe get involved in some other way.

One invitation to check it out takes place on September 27 - the day they are launching their public services. That afternoon they will be having a Ranch Hand rodeo (which is a fun kind of rodeo for the entire family . . . by the way they will meet on Sundays at a rodeo arena!)

So that afternoon you could go out to Sinton and check it out . . . .

Vision 09' Update - Part IV

On Mission . . . Church Planting

It's awesome how God created every living thing on the planet to multiply! To produce more living things. Cindy and I have done well in that area together :)

The same is true spiritually. God uses our life to help birth new spiritual life in others!

And the same is true as a church. We're on mission to start new life. To help start Kingdom oriented churches. And this doesn't mean churches just like us. We're searching for where we can be a part of churches birthed in places and ways where they can be viral for the Kingdom of God!

Right now I'm mentoring one man who is planting a church in a school (just like we started!) with a vision to plant a church in schools all over town.

I've been meeting with another local guy who wants to start a church in Fort Collins, Colorado. And this week I'm meeting for the first time with a guy who wants to plant a 'Cowboy Church' in Sinton.

I've invested time in two church planting conferences this Spring and have been meeting with some local pastors talking about how we can plant Kingdom seeds together in needy areas of Corpus.

Now, I notice that I've said a lot of 'I's - but it's not about me. I'm only laying groundwork for the Holy Spirit to work through ALL of us so that lives will be transformed.

The vision as we continue to move forward in church planting is that each of us individually - and collectively - would offer our time and talents and resources so that new churches can bring God's Kingdom to every corner of our City and beyond.

Crazy, Busy Day . . .

What a wild day between trying to work on a sermon, fix a car window (see this mornings blog) and tying up loose ends to get out of town . . .

I'm excited to get on a plane in a couple of hours to go to Dallas for a Church Planting gathering that's been in the works for several months . . . I'm going with Alan Reed and taking along Luis Garcia who I've been meeting with and is planting a church near Hamlin MS and John Richerson is also meeting us there . . . it's at Northwood Church where Bob Roberts leads and they are pushing out into the world in incredible ways . . . it's gonna be awesome . . .

Although I'm very bummed as I'm missing my girls soccer game tonight and it's us - King @ 7-2-1 against Converse Judson @ 8-1-1 . . . the winner will be in first place with 3 games left! Man, I can't believe I'm stinkin' missing it! Go Kings Girls!!!!!!

What a Weekend . . .

Cindy and I drove to San Antonio on Friday night for a soccer game --- the girls suffered their first district loss to Judson . . . but they'll come fightin' back!

Cindy came home and I stayed around for a church planting conference on Saturday that was awesome . . . got connected with some great church planting guys . . . including a good friend and church planter who I stayed with Tray Pruett . . .

Drove home Saturday evening . . . And then had an awesome morning of Celebration . . . followed by baseball practice this afternoon and then hanging out with the high school guys this evening . . . I'm stinkin' ready to go to bed!

One more thing . . . I was a proud Dad - at King they pick 4 'Favorites' in each class -- last year Laura and our 'adopted daughter' Elle were both chosen . . . and then at 'Favorites' this year on Sat night - Sarah was chosen! Along with Elle again! Pretty cool!
