Pray . . .

Cindy and I are going to the Family Life's Weekend to Remember this weekend. It's a marriage get-away weekend where you put aside everything else and focus on one another and God's plan for your marriage.

Please pray with us. We all need a tune-up from time to time and I need all the help I can get to love my wife as she deserves to be loved.

Also . . . beginning NEXT weekend (4/25) I'm beginning a series on Family Relationships! Know any marriages or families who are in need? Any parents who could use an oil change? Start inviting!

Gold for Husbands . . .

Hey husbands here's a little free advice on a site that you need to check out . . . www.GivingHusband.com . . .

Your wife will love you . . .

Here's the scoop: http://www.GivingHusband.com is a free service dedicated to providing the tools husbands need to make their wives feel special. Through the http://www.GivingHusband.com Giving Guide we are able to help husbands pick out gifts, and plan special evenings for their wives so they might feel loved and appreciated.
Here’s how it works:

1. Husband creates a login name and password which includes his wife’s email

2. Wife receives auto email which asks her to finish the profile her husband started

3. Wife finishes profile and an email is sent to the husband so that he can immediately begin buying her gifts, and planning special evenings

http://www.GivingHusband.com is like a registry which stores important information needed to buy a surprise gift for your wife. We make sure a husband doesn’t have to blow his cover to buy his wife a surprise by asking her what her ring size is, or if she prefers blue to orange.

Best Decision I Ever Made!

OK, spiritually speaking my decision in 1982 to follow Christ was the decision that has impacted my life the most for eternity . . .

But the decision that I made in 1986 to marry Cynthia Jean Barnett was right behind it. Today we celebrate 22 years together.
It's kind of funny, we're staying in the same hotel that we stayed in on our wedding night (hey quit it, we got 4 kids with us OK!)

Has it always been easy? No. Has it been worth it? Heck yes! And it gets better and better every year.

A couple of thoughts of encouragement after 22 years:

1) Fight for it - When I've wanted to give in or quit - or just be jerk - nothing makes me fight harder than to think about the generations of influence we can have as we seek to be faithful in the good times and bad

2) Keep Dating - We do that on Thursdays at lunch right now - Find regular time for just you two alone - keep it fresh, keep it real.

3) Stand in the gap for your spouse - Nothing brings me back to thankfulness for Cindy more than when I pray for her - for God's power and blessing in her life.

May 14, 1983

Believe it or not, 25 years ago tonight I had my first date with this beautiful woman! Wow! (And, yes, we were 9 years old :) Actually we were Seniors in high school)

She is an awesome wife and incredible Mom who keeps me on task in following Jesus.

Cindy brings blessing and joy to my life and our family! I praise God for His incredible gift of our relationship!
