Major League Basics . . . THIS Sunday!

Don't forget Sunday Morning we start . . . Major League Basics!

"It [baseball] breaks your heart. It is designed to break your heart. The game begins in the spring, when everything else begins again, and it blossoms in the summer, filling the afternoons and evenings, and then as soon as the chill rains come, it stops and leaves you to face the fall alone." (Bart Giamatti - former Commissioner of Baseball)

Who needs to come with you and discover that they DON'T have to face life all alone?

Proud Dad

Last night we had the King HS Soccer banquet . . . in addition to their All-District awards that I talked about in a past blog, the girls got two of the five awards that the team voted on.

Sarah got the Most Improved Award and Laura got the Offensive Most Valuable Player.

Way to go girls!

Just got the email about our 25th High School Reunion this Summer! Yes, I'm that old (Cindy too, we graduated together!)

Here's our school logo that they sent on with the email . . . Lubbock Monterey Plainsmen!

And if you wonder what a Plainsman is it's one of these dudes right here:

And before you make fun of him, how many of you had a mascot that got to carry a gun and maybe even fought at the Alamo?

What was your HS mascot?

As You Pray . . .

As we join millions of others today during the National Day of Prayer asking God to humble us and transform us . . . here are some reminders:

"So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened." (Jesus in Luke 11:9-10)

". . . I tell you the truth, my Father will give you whatever you ask in my name. Until now you have not asked for anything in my name. Ask and you will receive, and your joy will be complete." (Jesus in John 16:23-24)

"Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results." (James 5:16)

"Each time, before you intercede, be quiet first, and worship God in His glory. Think of what He can do, and how He delights to hear the prayers of His redeemed people. Think of your place and privilege in Christ, and expect great things!" (Andrew Murray)

"God does nothing but by prayer, and everything with it." (John Wesley)
