Are you still asking? acting?

Throughout our 40 Day Holy Uprising I challenged everyone to be asking God a question:

How can I best leverage my gifts/talents/passions/time/resources/experiences/etc -- for the Kingdom of God?

The 40 Days is over but the question still hangs. . . .

What are you doing about it?

Fried

"I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the sinful nature with its passions and desires. Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit."
Galatians 2:20; 5:22-25

These are some of the first verses I ever memorized as a new believer. They've been on my mind a lot the last week.
The idea of crucifying the flesh is not a nice, pleasant subject. For some reason it keeps brings up the idea of 'fried' in my mind. Crucifixion is painful. Sacrificial. Self-crucifixion is crazy.

But when we seek to walk in the dust of the rabbi, and allow God's Spirit to control us, we are consciously choosing His ways and putting to death our sinful ways. Fried.

I was trying to make a decision the other day and was fighting to hear from God and not just choose what was comfortable. Someone with me asked what I was doing as we were sitting there and I was flipping through Scripture in my mind and trying to hear from God. I said: 'I'm crucifying my flesh.'

If we allow Him, the Spirit will always walk half a step ahead of us. And as followers of Jesus, we have the continual privilege of being able to choose to hang our selfish desires on the cross, and to put our feet step-by-step into His footprints.

In Accordance With . . .

"Those who live according to the sinful nature have their minds set on what that nature desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires." (Romans 8:5)

Being a disciple of Jesus is about being 'covered in the dust of the Rabbi' - yesterdays sermon (audio, video). Jesus no longer physically resides on the planet, but His Spirit resides in His followers. And it's His Spirit who gets us dirty in His dirt.

And it begins with where we dwell with our mind. Do we dwell on what is 'true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable. . . . excellent or praisworthy.' (Philippians 4:8)?
Or does your mind drift to whatever is convenient and comfortable?

What dust you accumulate today will begin with how you set your mind.

Then we served 2,000 of our friends in the community at the Easter Festival!! Wow!

4,000+ Eggs Hunted

In addition we blessed the Food Bank and those in need in our community by collecting over a ton of food!
